Dubas makes another trade
This time, he adds a winger from Toronto
Kyle Dubas didn’t wait until free agency begins at noon today to start tweaking his roster.
He acquired right winger Nick Robertson from Toronto for a fourth-round draft choice in 2028 this morning.
Robertson, 24, is 5-foot-9, 178 pounds and was the Maple Leafs’ second-round pick in 2019, when Dubas was the GM in Toronto.
Despite his modest stature, he is a fairly consistent point-producer, putting up 16 goals and 16 assists in 78 games with Toronto last season.
The Penguins have shown strong interest in trying to acquire his older brother, Jason, from Dallas. Whether a potential reunion will influence Jason Robertson’s decision on where he will accept a trade if he doesn’t re-sign with the Stars isn’t clear.
Nick Robertson became a restricted free agent with arbitration rights today.
The trade was the second in two days for Dubas, who acquired defenseman Kaedan Korczak from Vegas for Parker Wotherspoon Tuesday.
